Recently in Western Australia the temperature has risen up to 43 + degrees. Lucky for me my passion for K-beauty allowed me to stay cool in this extreme heat. God bless face mists, sun screens & refrigerated masks.

Personally i try to use a particular type & brand of face mask consistently too see if their claims are trustworthy and true. Since i am almost out of my 3W Clinic Fresh Royal Jelly Sheet Mask, it’s time to write a solid review!

3w Clinic Fresh Royal Jelly Sheet Mask (23g of essence)

quotation-39628_960_720.png  This is a sheet type mask containing royal jelly extracts. The moisturising effect of royal jelly will improve dry and dehydrated skin, leaving it smooth & vibrant. This hypoallergenic sheet mask stays attached to the face along the natural skin texture, and provides soothing comfort to the skin. – Description on the packaging –quotation-39627_960_720.png

This 3W Clinic Fresh Royal Jelly Sheet Mask Claims to:

  1. Moisturise  the skinRabbit cooking food.png
  2. Improve dry and tired skin
  3. Leave skin smooth

The Formulation:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Alcohol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polysorbate 60, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Sorbitan sesquioleate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Allantoin, Royal Jelly Extract, Disodium EDTA, Perfume

The ingredients are quite simple, and frankly show that you really get what you pay for. Water composes a majority of this face mask, followed by additional moisturisers (Butylene Glycol/ Glycerin).  While the main star of the show, being the Royal Jelly Extract, places third last in the ingredients list.

A quick sweep of ingredients into COSDNA found a majority of the ingredients are not irritants to the skin. Based on the ingredients, this mask should mostly moisturise, while providing some benefits from the royal jelly (but not much as it is the third last ingredient).  Lets find out if this is true!!

The ‘Irritants’

  • Butylene Glycol: Is used in cosmetics/ skincare and normally  has a few functions. These include acting as a ‘slip agent’  (something like petroleum jelly), a solvent (able to help other products breakdown & dissolve dirt) & a moisturising/ conditioning agent. This compound works by taking moisture in the air and reintroducing it to our skin. Depending on your skin type, this ingredient might irritate your skin (especially so if you have sensitive skin). Overall COSDA rated this product a 1 for being an acne irritant.

The ‘Star(s)’

  • Royal Jelly Extract: Royal jelly is a thick substance gathered from honey bees! This ingredient is beneficial in more ways more than one. It is composed of many different nutrients, such as: amino acids, sugars, vitamins & antioxidants. Additionally Royal Jelly has natural fats, which help provide additional moisture to the skin & reduce inflammation. Royal Jelly also is a natural antibiotic/  have antibacterial properties!! (That’s always a bonus). When applied to the skin Royal Jelly should help keep it supple, moisturise & repair damage skin.

The Experience

I’ am currently on my last two pieces of this sheet mask (started with 10), which is sad because i really enjoy using this mask.  This mask is efficient in covering most areas, bar my nose.  I think regardless of your face size everyone will have trouble within this particular area. The size of the nose area on this face mask is really small …. (wHyYyY). I guess this is justifiable because of the price, and the good properties that the mask provides. The serum is thick but not over bearing, and does wonders for my skin! After using this product my skin is left smooth and supple the following day (temporary effect). However since the product is thick, always follow up with your additional skincare routine to massage the product in.

Additionally what i love about this product is the amount of serum given. At most this product can stay on your face for about 15-20 minutes before drying out. Since I am constantly in a rush, this is perfect. I don’t feel bad about wasting any serum! Normally with my more expensive mask they can last up to 1hr + and still remain moist. Since i am a university student, i am constantly working and catching up on my readings and lectures. So having a quick & easy face mask that improves the quality of my face is a must in my books! Also it’s always a bonus that this face mask was able to reduce some of my inflammation on my skin (Not drastically, but noticeable).

Verdict: Great for the price tag

Duration: 15-20 minutes before dying out

Would i repurchase: Yes!!

  1. Fantastic! I’m happy you are enjoying the last drops of the masks. I love royal jelly on my skin in winter season. It is so soothing. I don’t use it in a mask but the Skinfood cream with the royal jelly and propolis serum . Simply amazing because it has really helped me cope with products that were too harsh on my skin. I might try then these masks as well.

  2. Oh, thanks so much for this review. I have some royal jelly from whole foods and it tastes awful. But now I will try putting it on my face. Hahah. ❤
